What did you do over the weekend?
I just realized it takes longer to come up with a blog post title than the actual post, lol. Of course this is only true for generic posts that aim at nothing and whose only purpose in life is to waste time. So it was a fairly good weekend I'd have to say. Mom's birthday was a good excuse to have guests over which meant we'd we'd be preparing a lot of food for dinner. Before diner though a quick, if you can call 4 hours quick, stop at Greenhills for a little shopping. Finances are a bit tight now so I had to scrounge up Citibank receipts. Just for those unfamiliar with the Citibank promotion each 1.5k single receipt is a 100 off the ticket prices, so 4 receipts more or less means two free seats for me and Kat at the movies. Not this time though as we opted to watch the Green Hornet in 3D. I must say, despite the low scores on rottentomatoes.com (46% approval rating) it was still mildly entertaining. The story was weak and provided little to no substance, but it didn't force me out of my seat so overall it was time well spent. The movie was presented in 3D so it was either center seats for me or I was headed off to watch some other movie. I found it strange that for a 3D film the couple in front of me had perfect seats to choose from yet they picked some obscure seats at the far end, and I mean far end of the movie theater. And before you think of something else, not they weren't like planning to do anything, they each paid for their own tickets and they looked like they were in highschool...that and the seats are usually right in front of the theater usher area. Oh well to each his/her own right?
So anyway, after the movie did a few quick stops at the local Apple resellers...nothing to buy there, good I don't exactly have the money to spend either...whew...fill up the errand shopping cart item list, then back home for dinner. Food was good kicked it off with Caesar salad followed by some pasta dish my Dad cooked up. You see the thing about my Dad's cooking, while absolutely scrumptious, can't exactly be called conventional. He usually has a general idea of what he want to cook, in this case pasta, then starts of with the usual ingredients, but then somewhere along between everything becomes a "taste" thing, where he goes on adding all this stuff that aren't in your usual list of ingredients for your off the counter pasta dish. Somehow he's creations always taste superb. The end result was some orange-ish (more red than orange) pasta dish with spinach for some added touch of green, lol. It wasn't like we had all week to prepare for the dinner so my Mom opted for grilled shrimps to add to the pasta and salad we were serving.
I wish I had taken some pictures of the food, because they all looked and tasted good. I even did mention more than once that I was going to prep the camera for some shots before we should serve the food, but I was preoccupied entertaining the guest. By the time I remembered the camera we were already seated and going through the pasta.
